<Lake Sakakawea Bass Tournament August 2nd 2014

Reinbold Tops Field

Top 5 Anglers!

The sixth tournament of the 2014 Bass Bandit tournament schedule is in the books, and the club was blessed with a beautiful day. Dakota Waters bay on Lake Sakakawea was the chosen spot for the August 2nd tournament. The club had a great turn out for this event as many members were eager to fight and catch some Sakakawea smallmouth. It was a nice calm slick morning on the water which made for a fun bass boat ride across the lake. These conditions provided an opportunity for the Bandits to fish many places throughout the day, which can be a rarity when fishing this large body of

Although Bandits have seen or caught big smallmouth on Lake Sakakawea, recent tournaments here have proven that it is challenging to find them. Finding and catching smallmouth on this lake isn’t hard, but finding ones that are tournament worthy is a whole different challenge.  On this day many anglers struggled to put together a limit and unfortunately some weren’t able to boat a keeper fish all day. No matter the difficulty or size someone is going to catch a limit big enough to win or do well in a tournament, and that is exactly what a few anglers did. Fishing in his first ever Bass tournament let alone Bass Bandit was lake local Chad Abrahamson. Chad heard through the grapevine about the Bandits doing a tournament a Dakota waters bay and decided to give it a try. Chad weighed in a 3 fish limit at 3.90 lbs which landed him a 5th place finish. Good job Chad, hope to see you at more events! Catching a 4th place finish was Jeanette Reinbold from Timber Lake South Dakota. Jeanette weighed in a 3 fish limit that weighed 4.02 lbs. Narrowly defeated his wife was Jeanette by a few mere ounces was Robert Reinbold. Robert was able to take home a 3rd place finish by weighing in 4.09 lbs. Nick Keena has been slowly working his way up in the standings all season long and he put together a great finish at this tournament. Nick boated a 3 fish limit that weighed 4.27 lbs which gave him a 2nd place finish. This is Nicks best Bandit finish since joining the club a couple years ago, this is a testament to our club that when you join you will learn how to catch fish! Way to go Nick! Coming in with a 1st place finish as well as grabbing the leader board for the Angler of the Year standings was Paul Reinbold. He boated a 3 fish limit that weighed 4.75 lbs, Paul caught his biggest fish of the tournament with just a few minutes to spare! That just goes to prove that should never give up and fish strong til the end!

The next tournament that the Bandits will be hosting will be on the Missouri River near the Bismarck / Mandan area. Our tournament launch location will be announced on this site (view our schedule) as well as the club forum as soon as we get a confirmation. This will be the Bandits first tournament on the river in 3 years when we launched from Beaver Bay south of Bismarck. Although the Missouri has good bass fishing to offer this time it’s going to be a completely different type of tournament due to the water conditions. Stay tuned in to this site for future club results and we look forward to your future membership!
